Resto on thé top , usualy WE are coming once when WE are in Pondi and since 10 years. This time ,thé terrasse IS very hot(not fan added) and a lot of smokers ,so you eat with thé smoke of your neighbourg..miam!! Horrible. WE ll not Come back...

We had a very bitter experience with this hotel. We took a detour to visit Pondicherry as a part of our road-trip from Kolkata-Manipal and back. Our car has lot of luggages which we did not want to unload at every stop and hence we wanted to have a hotel which has its won car parking. However at Pondicherry we could not find any such hotel near beach. We finally got in touch with a person who said that he is calling from hotel and assured us that we can park in front of the hotel and everybody does so. We were particularly aware about the evening restriction on vehicle movement along the beach road and when we asked question about that, we were told that it will not be a problem as the entrance of the hotel is not on the beach road. So we booked 2 rooms for 2 nights from website ajanthabeachguesthouse, paid 50% advance and requested adjacent rooms. And the guy confirmed the booking. That was in August. But finally when we arrived there in this October at around 8:30PM, we found the road is blocked by police. We called the hotel and the reception manager after listening to the problem, started talking to other people without telling us anything but keeping us on line. Finally we have to personally go to the hotel and the manager told us that we have to adjust and he can only provide a person who can help us to carry the luggage. We finally had to park the car at a distance of around 650 m, unload all our luggages which we had to carry to the hotel. We were given rooms 505 and 510 at two different floors - they did not care about our request of adjacent rooms. The rooms are pretty basic with threadbare bedsheets. The taps were dripping. No towels in the room. We did not get them even after explicitly asking for that. The reception manager was very uncooperative. The rooms have attched balconies from where you can see the sea. And we found that we were charged Rs 3300 for a night for a room where the rooms that we were given have total cost including GST Rs. 2576 per night per room. They said that is done by their booking agent and they are not responsible for that. What a scam! We left next day morning with a bitter experience.

Great view of the sea. Spend few ours at the first floor open seating. Food and drinks including service are satisfactory. Ajantha Beach Guest House is a recommended option. I would definitely visit again.

Reception manager was not cooperative. But Restaurant manager was good. Food is good 4*. Hotel didn't provide new bedsheets 2nd day. Location is good. Only because of good location hotel manager have so much of attitude.

One of good property in French Colony of Pondy. Closely located to beach is the plus point. Also near to all tourist places in French colony. They have another property attached to this one..which gives a direct view of the sea.
